Delays expected in building of Nakorn Pathom to Cha-Am motorway

7 December 2017 – Thai media reported that the proposed motorway from Nakorn Pathom to Cha-Am is in danger of not being finished on time.

The 109 kilometer road being built at a cost of 72 billion baht was slated to be finished by 2019 but this is now in doubt.

The plans have run into budgetary and land expropriation difficulties that need to be resolved first.

Daily News reported that similar problems are also besetting the Bang Yai – Kanchanaburi motorway plan. A 65 billion baht budget was allocated for the road to the west but costs have rocketed by 16 billion baht due also to land expropriation issues.

There was, however, some good news – the Pattaya to Maptaput extension work looks to be on schedule with only one plot of agricultural land currently in dispute.

The motorway going south would be a boon for those travelling from Bangkok to the seaside resorts at Cha-Am and Hua Hin in particular.

The road would have nine toll booths starting with Nakorn Chaisri and ending at Khao Yoi as per our map today.
